Lake Rhona

Edition Size: 150

Nestled under Reeds Peak, this majestic quartzite beach with its distinct pink hue sits at an altitude of 880m in Tasmania’s Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, World Heritage Area. Often the Gordon River level prevents access to Lake Rhona, but I was lucky and crossed with the river at thigh level, and returned with it lapping my ankles… easy compared to the hours of walking through bog in between!

I had been up for sunrise for this photo and was about to have a cup of tea when the mist lowered into the lake and then began to rise… It was one of those times when nature performs a bit of 'magic', and it was all over in minutes. An amazing place that those who are privileged to have seen both in their original state call a 'Little Lake Pedder'.
